Mark Shapiro is an American entertainment executive who served as CEO of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation from December 2010 to August 2016. During his tenure at Six Flags, he oversaw the overhaul of the company's management and marketing strategies, and the implementation of an aggressive expansion plan that included new parks in the Middle East and China.
Shapiro's career in the entertainment industry began in 1986 when he worked as a production assistant for Dick Clark Productions. He then went on to work for ESPN, where he served as senior vice president and general manager of programming. After leaving ESPN, Shapiro became the CEO of Red Zone LLC, a company created by Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder to oversee the team's business operations.
In addition to his work at Six Flags, Shapiro has held executive positions at companies such as DIRECTV, Dick Clark Productions, and IMG. He is known for his innovative approach to marketing and branding, as well as his ability to turn struggling companies around.
Shapiro was born in Los Angeles, California in 1970 and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in communications. He currently resides in California with his wife and children.
